Call for Papers
Painting is a powerful form of visual communication that transcends linguistic, cultural, and social barriers, offering a unique platform to explore essential issues of our time, opening them up for public discussion. In this context, we propose that this call for papers be an invitation to consider it as a powerful force in an expanded field, extending to other artistic practices, in relation to other areas of research and creation. We invite researchers, artists, and image professionals to submit contributions that investigate, problematize, and expand the transformative potential of Painting.

Proposals must be submitted by June 30, 2026. All proposals are selected using a blind peer review process.
The proposal to be submitted must consider one of the following modalities:
1- An article for publication in the Revista De Pictura (journal), between 2500 and 3000 words, from which the following must be prepared:
1.1- A presentation at a conference during the Jornadas de Pintura - Painting Conference, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes of presentation and including 10 minutes of discussion, created from the submission for publication;
2- A free visual essay in artistic expression and language, contextualized in one of the proposed sub-themes, with a maximum limit of 4 pages.
3- A Masterclass proposal with a duration to be defined by the proposer, for a minimum group of 10 participants, with a synopsis and list of necessary materials and equipment.
Calendar:
June 30, 2026: Deadline for submission of proposals (350-word abstract).
July 31, 2026: Editorial Team response deadline.
September 30, 2026: Submission of the proposal to be published.
October 15, 2026: Editorial review of materials to be published in the journal - Revista De Pictura.
November 1: Deadline for submission of final versions corrected by the authors.
November 16-20, 2026: Jornadas de Pintura - Painting Conference (Lisbon, Portugal).
